We are a family that loves wine.
In 1923 and at just 13 years old, José Díaz Cordero arrived from Asturias to Chile, starting shortly after this long road of almost 100 years producing wines in Itata Valley, which we have continued throw three generations.
Yes! We love wine! José’s three children and several granchildren have continued in this activity. Until a few years ago we produced Orly fot other companies, but we decided to explore new options with a small production of bottled wines with our name, Díaz de Itata, to go straight to your glass and share this passion.
We are in the middle of the generous hills of Portezuelo, in Cucha Cox farm, which is part from the old Hacienda Cucha Cucha, known in the chilean history because the Battle of Cucha Cucha, fought in 1814.
It is not just a beautiful place, is key also in the Itata Valley and chilean wine history. Their vineyards have existed for at least 300 years, planted by the Jesuit missioners, and since that time wine has been made non-stop, making it one of the oldest vineyards in Chile.
In each bottle of Díaz de Itata we want to connect with you and share the tastes and aromas from our land. We want to show you a little bit of our old vines and that you enjoy the happiness with we work as a family thruoughout the year.
Today, many people say that these wines are made on a human scale. We think it is better to say that they are made with the heart.
Cheers!
